Use the Date Difference Calculator in three steps

01

Choose the start date

Set the first date in the period.

02

Choose the end date

Set the second date before or after the first.

03

Select the counting rule

Include both dates when the use case calls for inclusive counting.

Exclusive and inclusive counting

Standard date difference counts the boundaries between dates. Inclusive mode adds one day so both the start and end dates are counted, as often required for attendance or booking days.

Timezone-safe calendar math

Dates are calculated at UTC midnight, which prevents daylight-saving clock changes from turning a calendar day into 23 or 25 hours.

Date Difference Calculator FAQ

Does the normal result include the start date?

No. It measures elapsed calendar days. Enable inclusive counting to count both selected dates.

What happens if the end date is earlier?

The absolute difference is shown and the breakdown notes that the dates were reversed.

Are weekends included?

Yes. The calculator counts all calendar days and does not remove weekends or holidays.

How are full weeks calculated?

The total day count is divided into complete seven-day weeks plus remaining days.

Does daylight saving affect the answer?

No. The calculation uses date-only UTC values rather than local clock hours.

Why can the calendar breakdown differ from total days divided by 30?

Actual calendar months contain 28, 29, 30, or 31 days, so the breakdown follows real month boundaries.
